Harvest Mite Alert
We are seeing a huge increase in harvest mite infestations in the last few weeks with the good weather. These tiny mites affect the feet and parts of the body closest to the ground. They cause intense irritation and can break your pets skin causing skin infections. Some pets lick and chew at their feet or groom excessively. These actions are often concentrated in the one area such as paws or along the tummy region.
Treatment involves dealing with the mite infestation and then antibiotics and anti inflammatories to deal with the infection and irritation. As always, prevention is better than cure and a simple spot on to back of your pets neck can prevent this occurring.
